Short answer
Quality in cosmetics is a chain: where the material comes from, how the formula is built, how it is tested and documented, and how it is packed. Transparency is a brand's willingness to describe each link.
Sourcing
Every finished product starts as agricultural material. Who grew it, where, and to what standard is the first thing that shapes the result.
Formulation
A formula balances what an ingredient contributes against stability, texture and safety. Short lists are not automatically better, and long lists are not automatically worse.
Testing and documentation
Cosmetic products placed on the EU market require a safety assessment and a product information file. That paperwork is unglamorous and it is the backbone of the whole system.
Packaging
Packaging protects an oil-based product from light, air and heat. It is a functional decision before it is an aesthetic one.
