How to use a hemp balm
A short walkthrough for getting the most out of a dense, oil-based balm without using more than you need.

Step by step
- 01
Start with clean skin
Balms sit on the surface, so anything already on the skin sits underneath. Wash and dry the area first.
- 02
Take less than you think
Scoop a pea-sized amount with a fingertip. A balm is concentrated and spreads much further once it warms.
- 03
Warm it between your fingers
Hold it for a few seconds. As the butters soften, the balm changes from firm to fluid and becomes far easier to spread.
- 04
Work it in slowly
Massage into the area in small circles until the surface no longer looks wet. Add a little more only if the area is still uncovered.
- 05
Wash your hands
Particularly with warming balms. Keep the product away from the eyes and from broken skin.
Tips
- If the balm is very firm, the room is cold — hold the tin in your hand for a minute first.
- Applying to slightly warm skin, after a shower, makes it spread more easily.
